So this was our view on our walk last night. We are blessed to have arrived at our family reunion, this year at the NC Outer Banks.
It’s been quite a week. We started a week ago with the death of a friend; a funeral on Friday. That put us two days late to our family reunion. God is good to allow the timing to be able to do both.
It was a hard three-day drive to get here from South Dakota (12 hours, 12 hours, 10 hours). My husband did all the driving (he’s the road warrior); I am the navigator (we use the real, paper maps, the kind that fold out). America is a beautiful country.
All the stress started melting away after dinner when we walked barefoot along the beach. We were awe-struck, gazing at the moonrise on the east side, and the sunset on the west.
We talked about God’s amazing handiwork. About God’s people. We walked along the sandy beach, thinking about Genesis 22.17, That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies.
And that we are now Abraham’s seed, because we have been grafted into God’s Family through Jesus Christ our Lord. We shall be blessed; we shall possess the gate of our enemies.
Dear Kathy, I love the way God brought you and your husband peace by remembering our beginning with Him. I am lifting you up in prayer, asking Him to be ever present with you on your vacation. P.S. I am happy to learn you are in South Dakota. Some day, my husband and I want to visit❤🙏

Yes! God always brings us peace; it is up to us to seek it and access it. Thank you for your prayers. ❤
And, come on down (up? across?) to SoDak!

Death has a way of putting things in a different (eternal) perspective. I’m sure the family reunion took on a special meaning, as you held your loved ones a little closer …

Beautiful pics! I like the word moonrise. 3 day drive? My goodness. I pray your air doesn’t go out.

We chatted at a rest stop with a gal from Chicago. Her husband had his head under the hood – their air went out. 😒

I was hoping our drive would take us through TN, and we could hook up. But then we had the funeral delay… 😕

In the midst of dealing with the loss, you always were able to enjoy God’s beauty, as well. 🙂 My hubby is the road warrior, too in our traveling.🙂

Well, this is exactly one of those places, 😁 but it’s very nice and not too crowded. I got some quality beach and surf-frolicking time today!

Kathy! I have swollen ankles/ edema. I do have quite a few of my oils with me including fennel. Should I do a foot soak? And what oils do you recommend besides fennel to add to the bath

My chart says chamomile (either Roman or German) is good for swelling. Geranium is soothing and an anti-inflammatory, as is lavender. Marjoram is good for fluid retention.
And a good Epsom salt soak. If no Epsom salts, then some kind of salt soak.

Really? Salt…hmm. I’ve got lavender

Oh my gosh!!! What a view ❤ Sorry for y’all’s loss. I don’t think I’ve ever made a 3 day trek before. Geez that’s a lot of miles covered.
I so love how you and your husband were reflecting on God together. I wish more marriages would do this.
What a joy it must have been to see everyone again though 🙂

As my husband and I grow deeper in the Lord, our marriage strengthens and grows deeper. I love that about God and my husband.
We do a family reunion every two years, lasting a week. We really enjoy each other. It’s a big house, and a big family, and we have a great time. Right now my brother is out in the dark, with flashlights and phone lights, showing his grandkids the little crabs scuttling along the edge of the water. We just finished a fantastic meal (family units take turns with the cooking, one family per night), and my nephew made the. very. best. peach cobbler AND blueberry cobbler! I’m looking forward to chasing-crab stories already! (We stayed behind to help my sister-in-law clean up after the dinner.)

I am extremely jealous of the cobblers!!! I love those.
Oh wow. Now that is a reunion. I bet his grandkids are having a blast 🙂 That’s awesome that y’all take turns cooking!
Your first two sentences made my day. It gives me hope for later 🙂 I love that!👊

Such beautiful photos! Do you mind if I use the second one to add a Bible verse, using the Bible Lens App?
