As I read various articles about God in America or religion around the world, statistics are presented in a multitude of formats about the belief systems of people and cultures.
A large percentage of people believe that, if they’re good enough, they’ll go to heaven.
Many believe there is no heaven, and no hell.
Some believe everyone goes to heaven.
Some believe in God, some believe there is no God, some believe in other gods.
Some believe the Bible is the living Word of God, and that it is Truth – all of it.
Others believe the Bible is a good book, and that it has some lessons we should follow.
Whatever anyone’s belief, there is a basic Truth that exists, whether a person believes it or not. I think we can all agree that not everyone’s truth can be true due to the conflicting beliefs.
In the book of Genesis, the first book of the Bible, the devil tempted Eve to eat the fruit. The temptation was this: “You will be like God.”
That powerful draw: “You will be like God” is with us every day.
Let me establish this: I believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth. I believe in His holy Son, Jesus Christ, Who came to the world to be our Savior. I believe in the Holy Spirit, Who dwells within believers. And I believe all three, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, are One.
Those who believe in “God,” in general, believe that He created all that we see. Some of those believe that He created everything, then left us alone to do with it as we will. Others believe He is intimately concerned and involved in every minute detail of everyone’s lives. (I place myself in the latter category.)
Some believe that God loves some people, or groups of people, more than others. Some believe God loves every single person with an intimate, immense, perfect love. (Again, I believe the latter.)
Here’s the point: because a person believes in one way, or one system, does not make it true. No person is God. Just because we believe something does not give us the power to cause it to become true.
God gave us the freedom to believe whatever we want.
My recommendation is to read what God says about everything. He’s the Creator; He made the rules. The safe bet is to follow the rules.
He is God, and I am not. If I don’t like something He says, I’d better get over it and dig into His explanation. I’m not going to win any arguments against Him because I’m the one who’s wrong.
We must get over ourselves and bow before our loving, almighty, perfect God.
Isaiah 45.5-7: I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else. I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
He is God, I am not. Beautiful reminder.

Because people have embraced unorganized religion, and we have chosen to “salad bar” pick and choose what we want to believe from the Word of God, we’ve been removed from the truth. And the further we remove ourselves, we’ve allowed false teachers to tickle our ears with false doctrines.
It’s amazing though, I’m not the brightest but through the Lord, the King James Version can be Crystal clear to me. There’s so many who can’t comprehend basics. So because everyone embraces different truths, and have little understanding, does this excuse ignorance? No. We must seek God’s truth.

Yes. And, as always, the answer is to read the Bible, humble ourselves under His mighty Hand, and learn from Him.

It just reminds me of an article I read years ago, I cannot remember who wrote it but it was spot on. People compare Jesus to Elmo. He’s always smiling, happy etc.. we have no grasp of His Lordship.

I did like it, and fully agree: “We don’t actually want the answers, we want our answers” – uh huh. The wisdom of God is foolishness to us. BUT God gave us His Word to reveal Himself to us. Don’t get it? Sink deeper, humble yourself, and accept it as Truth.
Good one!

Uh, weather…. Yeah, about that: freezing rain today; changing to a 36-hour blizzard warning tonight until Friday morning. We’re hearing snow total amounts to 28″. 😊

Objective truth … imagine that! There was a time when believing in one Truth would meet with the response, “Well, DUH.” 😉 But now it’s amazing how many believe they can make up their own truth, and it will be just as valid as somebody else’s. (As the professor said in “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe” – “Logic! Why don’t they teach logic in these schools?!”)

And I don’t know that things are changing with the times that way; I think we folks have always wanted to believe our own truths. God shines His light, and we must step into it.

I am sad for those who don’t know the TRUE GOSPEL. I agree with all you said here…….HIS word is the only truth and yes it seems now more than ever, that people cherry pick what they like and ignore the really hard stuff. There is one big reason why we are where we are: PRIDE. People are unwilling to submit to GOD’S authority. You said it right when you said: dig deeper, humble yourself and accept it as TRUTH. Thanks for your “truthful” post!!!

You are so spot on in this post. Our belief in God is not a buffet. It is “we eat what is put before us” and what God puts before us is His Living Word.

God just fascinates me! While God is different to everyone, He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. He manifests Himself in so many ways, yet His character is unchanging.

We can only pray He opens our and others’ eyes. As James tells us to do, I pray for wisdom.
